old cool

I'M BACK FROM THE DEAD -- UNI APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN SUCKING ALL THE FUN OUT OF MY LIFE, BUT THEY'RE (FINALLY) ALL DONE AND DUSTED SO I CAN GET BACK TO SPRUCING THIS SPACE UP. I KNOW I ALWAYS EMPHASIZE HOW LOW MAINTENANCE MY APPROACH TO BLOGGING IS, BUT I WANT TO TRY POSTING MORE OFTEN, SAY ONCE A WEEK. LET'S SEE HOW LONG I CAN KEEP THIS STREAK UP. (EDIT: REGULAR PROGRAMMING WILL COMMENCE IN 2016)

THIS OUTFIT IS INSPIRED BY LAID-BACK, VINTAGE COOL. I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH SOME PIECES THAT I FOUND LOOKING THROUGH MY MOM'S BASEMENT BINS, ESPECIALLY THE MAX MARA SHIRT SEEN BELOW.

IN CASE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOME FINDS OF YOUR OWN, I'D RECOMMEND RAIDING YOUR LOCAL THRIFT SHOP (THE BEST UKAY-UKAYS IMO ARE IN MAKATI CINEMA SQUARE) OR PARENT'S CLOSET, LIKE I DID. IF YOU WISH TO GO THE ONLINE ROUTE; NASTY GAL JUST RELEASED THEIR NEWEST VINTAGE GOLDMINE (WARNING: $$$) AND HAVE AN AFTER PARTY LINE MADE OUT OF VINTAGE FABRICS. FOR BARGAINS, CHECK ETSY.

exhibition one

Photos from my first little exhibition, revolving around the theme of distortion. All pieces (except for the video) feature my sister.

TOP: acrylic painting / CENTER: colored pencil drawing / BOTTOM: unfinished mixed media (acrylic paint + embroidery) painting

Stills from a video of a beating heart gif (originally hand drawn, then animated using Photoshop) projected onto Siobhan

"An important aspect of my artwork is the combination of traditional and modern tools. This exhibition showcases my experimentation with classic techniques, such as drawing and painting, fused with modern technology through the use of various digital imaging software. Combined with my fascination with the human form and mind, and my signature pastel color palette, the result is a collection of works that deal with the theme of distortion in an unexpectedly playful and feminine way."

love thing

Shooting this little lookbook has left me lusting for freedom and positive vibes - things that are pretty hard to imagine when you're slugging through work during exam season. I'm taking a break to time travel for a bit - this is my (pastel-infused, in Tiny Muse tradition) take on the trending 70s era.

P.S. If you didn't get it, today's blog title is an ode to the fictional band Stillwater, off Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous

Ribbed crop from Glassons, jeans + sunglasses from Topshop, sandals from Urban Outfitters, coat from River Island

Crochet top from Shop Her, skirt from Zara

P.P.S. This look, along with some of my art, is featured in issue 2 of Sad Girl Magazine. I also talk about my favorite menswear picks from the SS15 shows.
